Hourly Comics Day 2012 – 1
Last Wednesday was Hourly Comics Day, wherein cartoonists do a bit of comicking every hour about the hour they’ve just had, on the go, through the course of the day. You can see tons of comics from this year here – they’re a wonderful view into the artists’ daily lives.
I planned to have a first attempt at it this year, and then realized it fell on the day I was going to the funeral of a friend. I thought about giving it a miss, out of respect, but ultimately decided that comics are a wonderful way to remember people and process things, as long as I cheated a bit and filled in some bits later on, to avoid sitting scribbling in a sketchbook at the funeral.
In the end, along with the obvious sadness, it was a positive day of remembering, and I’m glad to have made this record of it.
